I was gifted a record player over the holiday season. Loved the ceremony of “playing the record”. I was left disappointed after shopping for a piece of furniture to hold the new turn table and records. Nothing all that original and nothing that was able to display the awesome artwork that encloses the vinyl.

Please see the official doodle storm below.

Here is my crack at the original design. Modeled in Fusion360, and cut from redwood cedar and pine. I really need to add some more environments to the Render workspace. I think this one was name “orbiting the sun”.

Made a few tweaks and printed some Barbie test models of the complete stand and one of the feet to test the fitment, feel the radius.

Time to make a real noisy mess! Here are the tool paths for the legs.

While this double sided piece was tricky enough as it is to ensure everthing lines up. It was foolish to think I could get two legs from one board. A fair amount of tension was released when the board was cut making for some extra “curvature” in some areas.

This is a 1.75″ radius on the legs. Done with a parallel pass with a 1/4″ ball endmill. A long process with a unique texture.

Unfinished SurePly panels standing in during the glue up.

Finished with Walrus Oil Furniture Butter. Couldn’t be easier to apply with an unassuming scent. It really brought out the knots and grain.
