Big Blue Stem Back Lane Address Sign

The city demands that we now have signage in our back lanes indicating the house number. I thought I would draw something up using our official provincial grass, the Big Blue Stem.

My Most Used Design- French Press Knob!

The funny thing about 3D printing…you’ll never run out of applications. This is a super simple design but it turned out to be my most used print to date. I have been pressing 2 pots of coffee a day for at least 3 years with this plunger “knob” I drew up. I printed a couple of variations in height and sphere diameter before I felt it comfortable to use.

Fractal Pyramid Spiral Vase

What might look like a pyramid is actually a vase! This was printed with MG chemicals Copper PLA. A single line starts at the base and very slowly spirals up the z axis in a continuous thread. This is called “Vase” mode. Some models lend themselves easily to this type of print, but this is a great example of how complicated things can get when you throw in a fractal pattern.

Each one of these “triangles” is still separated from one another other. It is hard to explain, but you can still pull the model apart.

I thought about the font and layout for about 2 weeks before coming up with this. A bit of a messy layout, but the canvass tool in Fusion 360 really made this part go a lot smoother that it could of eye balling coordinates vs the knots in the wood.
